Course Description

Course Description:

So much time is spent discussing the stroke patient in the hospital setting, but not the patient in regard to end of life care. There are several considerations that separate stroke survivors from other patients in regard to palliative care and hospice care. There are also other treatments that can help the patient and caregiver in these final weeks and days.

This course begins with an overview of stroke characteristics and their effects before moving to an exploration of palliative care. Participants are taught to identify the challenges that stroke patients face as well as the 5 stages of grief and integrative therapies.
